You can easily scan artworks using our scan.art web application. Open our website on your phone’s browser, select the exhibition where you want to scan artworks and point your camera at the artwork and you will instantly receive information about it.
No, you do not need a special app. Scanning works directly through our website.
No, you can scan artworks and receive information without an account. An account is only necessary if you want to save scanned artworks or create a list of scanned artworks to view after your exhibition visit.
After scanning an artwork, you will receive information such as the title, artist, year of creation, and if saleable, the price.
Yes, scanning artworks with scan.art and retrieving information is free of charge for visitors of participating exhibitions and art fairs.
You need a smartphone or tablet with a working camera and an internet connection to use the web app. When using older model smartphones, due to outdated smartphone cameras, the accuracy of your scans may be lower.
When scanning artworks, make sure you point your camera towards the artwork. The entire artwork should be visible through the camera stream without any other objects in the background. If you do not receive a result, move closer to the artwork.
No, you need an account to save scanned artworks and create lists to view after an exhibition visit. You can however see a scan history while using scan.art by clicking on the three dots on the bottom right and select “Search History”. After closing the web application, this search history will be deleted.
